Artichoke Fairy

This is a design I did several years ago as an entry for the Castroville Artichoke Festival's poster contest. I did not win... /sigh... I guess there just isn't a large market for artichoke fairies... :) This design was done with various mediums on canvas. I had no idea that artichokes were so pretty, until I decided to try to paint one. I also ate my first whole artichoke while I worked on this project. I'd had pieces of them before on pizzas etc... but this was my first time digging into a whole artichoke. It was somewhat messy... but very tasty!

This design was drawn by my very talented friend Raven. We stood around her table talking about how a fly would look. Her house didn't have any live models like mine does...
